Orbán cabinet: Von der Leyen’s European Commission wants to topple incumbent Hungarian government in 2026

The European Commission is doing everything in its power to remove the current Hungarian government in next spring’s elections and replace it with one that “dances to its tune”, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said at his annual hearing before parliament’s justice committee.
European Commission punishing Hungary
Gulyás accused the commission of punishing Hungary for its independent stance on war, migration, and gender issues, citing blocked Erasmus funds as an example. He warned that the commission aimed to replace the current government with a compliant one to secure EU budget approval.
Meanwhile, regarding the fixed 3 percent interest Home Start loan scheme, he said the government programme had seen unprecedented demand, with an average loan request of 33 million forints (EUR 85,000), while 80 percent of applicants were under 40, with an average age of 34. Rules have been adjusted to allow the loan to be combined with other family support schemes, he noted.

The 2026 budget allocates 50–80 billion forints for interest subsidies under the loan, but the programme’s boost to construction is expected to offset costs, he insisted.
Drugs, Home Start, Ukrainian refugees
On the topic of drug trafficking, he said 22,000 police officers and 150 investigators have been mobilised, resulting in 6,134 criminal proceedings and the seizure of 1 tonne of drugs.
Regarding civil sector support, Gulyás noted that funding for the National Cooperation Fund will rise from 3.4 billion forints in 2010 to 16 billion forints in 2026, though demand still exceeds supply.
Addressing the subject of Ukrainian refugees, the minister said Hungary has spent 100 billion forints on support for refugees, providing free health care, simplified employment, and schooling for children.
Energy alternatives
Regarding energy sanctions, Gulyás said Hungary opposed sanctions that harmed its vital interests and would veto related measures requiring unanimity. Talks with the US on energy alternatives are ongoing, he added.
After the hearing, Gulyás reminded journalists that Donald Trump had highlighted that Hungary is a landlocked country, so its situation was special, and next week the Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will discuss this issue with the US President.
Gulyás reiterated Hungary’s commitment to peace and economic stability, emphasising the need for a Budapest peace summit to end the war in Ukraine.

Really fed up with EUtrash.
Seriously, someone tell me: What has the E.U. done for the average citizen of the European countries in the past 15-20 years, aside from forced us to endure those annoying cookie warnings on every website and caps being attached to bottles and cartons of drink?!?!?!
I think this is the 4th or maybe 5th time when this propaganda account is asking this exact same question here under various EU related articles. Maybe you could try reading the answers so you wouldn’t have to repeat the question over and over again, e.g. this one by Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry:
