Change language:

Following a report on the 2025 year in Hungary, the country has been earmarked as a potential hotspot for digital innovation and business services in the years ahead. It looks as though a national plan to focus on this sector and bolster its effectiveness within the country has made Hungary much more appealing on the international stage.

As such, the ever-digital world of British business has been examining the options available. With an eye on getting in early and riding a wave of growth, business service centers in Hungary are now very attractive to overseas firms. The Hungarian digital economy is already offering a GVA of 6.7 percent, but that’s primed to rise.

Digitized Economies Taking an Interest in Hungary

The UK’s digital economy is valued at €1.02 trillion as of the end of 2025. That makes it Europe’s leader. Companies within this sector cover just about everything, from business technologies to entertainment. Even classic entertainment options like slots are now fully digitized and embraced by the British public en masse.

Among the collection, titles like Big Bass Trophy Catch, Centurion Winner Grand Chance, and Dead or Alive III: Wanted command vast armies of fans who play via smartphone, laptop, desktop, or tablet. It’s all primed and ready to suit the tech-focused crowd of the UK, creating an entirely online-centric collection of businesses.

Throw in other digitally set entertainment media like streaming and mixed reality, and it’s clear that the UK has powered up through digitization, even in private life. It helps to fuel an interest in tech-savvy businesses and their creations. Now, the UK tech sector employs over 1.7 million, adding some €172.5 billion to the economy annually.

Already, the Hungarian digital economy is estimated to be worth €26.9 billion, with digital tech spanning all conceivable sectors. You’ve got your traditional tech services like cybersecurity, as well as more specialized areas, such as cloud adoption within the private and public sectors.

This is greatly thanks to the 2022-introduced National Digitization Strategy. Running until 2030, the program aligns with the Digital Decade Policy Program set up by the EU, but it goes further than the program’s requirements. Hungary is seen as being very ambitious in the digital space.

Already, the rate of development is set to exceed the targets laid out by the EU, with the national strategy going much further. By 2030, Hungary seeks to be a top ten nation in digitization performance within the EU. Already, massive investment in semiconductors and the use of advanced technologies are making this vision a reality.

The UK’s government advice service for businesses now identifies Hungary as a “high-growth business hub” that has a “motivated workforce” and a “modern, liberalized business environment.” Business dealings between the two countries are relatively meek right now, but the prioritization of both to transform digitally and adopt AI will only further align them to encourage more business exchanges.

Hungary is making waves on the continent for its commitment to exceeding EU digitization efforts. Naturally, this has caught the eye of many business leaders in Europe’s top digital economy, potentially welcoming more business from the UK in due course.
