Extra burden on courts increases radically
MTI – The amendment of the law on minor offences has resulted in a massive increase in the burden on the courts in the recent period, daily Magyar Hirlap said today.
Statistics by the National Office for the Judiciary show that courts received 980,000 cases in the first six months of this year, a 68 percent increase from the same period last year. Of the total increase, 190,000 cases were connected to minor offences, the paper added.
The number of cases closed in the first six months of this year totalled 950,000, a 52 percent increase from the same period of last year.
The high concentration of unfinished cases in central Hungary compared to other areas has been successfully decreased, the paper said.
