The FBI in Budapest? Popular series returns to the Hungarian capital

Budapest has once again taken the spotlight in a major international production. The popular CBS series FBI: International returns for its fourth and final season, with the Hungarian capital playing a leading role in the story.
The hit spin-off of the original FBI series has been filmed across some of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks for the past four years – and now, Hungarian viewers can finally watch the concluding season on TV4.
Why is the FBI in Budapest?
In the show, a special unit of the American Federal Bureau of Investigation establishes its headquarters in Budapest, from where the agents embark on secret missions across Europe, writes nlc.
Unlike traditional action dramas, FBI: International often relies less on gunfire and more on intelligence, strategy, and cutting-edge technology. The series not only delivers gripping investigations but we can also think of it as a stunning cinematic tribute to Budapest’s architectural beauty and cultural diversity.
The elite team includes a cyber specialist, a master strategist, and a multilingual informant expert – all working to protect U.S. citizens abroad. What makes the series stand out is that Budapest is not merely a scenic backdrop, but an integral part of the storyline itself.
The Hungarian capital shines in the final season

The final season once again highlights several recognisable Budapest locations. According to Blikk‘s article, the team’s headquarters is set in the Hunyady Palace in the heart of Józsefváros, while other scenes were shot at the Angyalföld railway station, around the City Park lake, and even in Népliget – where, for the sake of a dramatic sequence, the former Planetarium building was set ablaze.
Viewers will also spot impressive shots filmed at a rooftop bar overlooking Clark Ádám Square, with the towers of St Stephen’s Basilica appearing in the background. Interior scenes were filmed inside the Adria Palace and the Saxlehner Palace at the start of Andrássy Avenue – buildings that once housed the Post Museum.
Many iconic place caught on camera
The production also visited several iconic Budapest venues, including the historic Centrál Café and the renowned Gundel Restaurant, as well as the Hungexpo exhibition grounds and the Belgrád embankment along the Danube.
Beyond the capital, the crew filmed in Leányfalu, Esztergom, and at the Budaörs Airport. Several main characters return for the final season, including tech expert Andre Raines (played by Carter Redwood), Cameron Vo (Vinessa Vidotto), Europol liaison Megan “Smitty” Garretson (Eva-Jane Willis), and intelligence analyst Amanda Tate (Christina Wolfe).
You can look at the stunnig images of Budapest in the series in nlc and Blikk’s articles.

Very good! 👏 👍
FBI International, the best show on CBS. I wanted to see this show run for 10 years!
CBS execs are fools that play to the dumb crowd, unfortunately for the rest of US.
