Budapest (MTI) – The festive week held in the second half of August brought record visitor numbers for the Hungarian pavilion at the Expo Milano 2015, Flora Retfalvi, the pavilion’s communications officer said.
More than 20,000 people visited the day of talent held on August 18, when the famous Polgar sisters played a simultaneous chess game with visitors, and in the afternoon young Hungarian musicians gave a joint classical music concert with Italian counterparts.
Thousands attended the series of events held on the occasion of the August 20 national holiday, which began with a promenade and harvest parade, followed by the ceremonial blessing of the new bread made with a special ancient variety of wheat.
The programme gave an insight into the collection of the Kiskunhalas Lace House and Museum as well as Hungarian folk arts and crafts. The evening ended with concerts by award-winning musicians of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and Kossuth-prize winner pianist Gergely Boganyi.
