Fidesz spox: No intelligence on terrorist threat against Hungary
Budapest, June 8 (MTI) – There is no current information to suggest any concrete terrorist threat against Hungary, the ruling Fidesz party spokesman said on Wednesday.
János Halász told public news channel M1 that the Counter-terrorism Information and Criminal Analysis Centre (TIBEK) will be set up in the near future in line with parliament’s decision on Tuesday. The new centre will have sufficient expertise and staff to maintain international ties and collect all terrorism-related information.
Commenting on Tuesday’s vote on the counter-terrorism package, Halász said all the measures that the amended laws authorise are already part of the legal system in western Europe, for instance in France and Belgium.
The left-wing parties refused to support the sixth amendment of the constitution on the “state of terrorist threat” because they support migration, he insisted. “This is the usual left-wing approach” throughout Europe, he added.
