‘Five Churches Festival’ listed among best European festivals
The European Festivals Association has admitted the Five Churches Festival (Öt Templom Fesztivál) held in Győr, in western Hungary, to its list of the top 26 European festivals, organisers told MTI on Monday.
Selected from among 715 applicants, the festival is held every May in Győr’s Kossuth Street, which features five churches of different denominations in close proximity to each other.
Accordingly, the festival focuses on shared values and the dialogue among religious communities. The five churches are also a monument to Catholic, Reformed, Lutheran, Greek Catholic and Jewish communities living in peace next to each other.
The awarding ceremony will be held in Brussels on September 18.
