Foreign minister discusses economic ties with Chinese ambassador
Budapest, May 27 (MTI) – Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Friday met Chinese Ambassador Duan Jielong to discuss bilateral economic ties, the foreign ministry said.
The parties welcomed the growing number of Chinese investments in Hungary, which have now exceeded 3.5 billion dollars, the ministry said in a statement.
Szijjártó was quoted as saying that China’s growing economy has a highly important role in overall European-Asian economic cooperation. The Hungarian government supports granting China market economy status, the minister said.
Regarding the security situation in Southeast Asia, Szijjártó said it was important that the countries in the region find a peaceful way to manage the territorial disputes in the South China Sea, without any external pressure.
