Foreign minister: Hungary-China relations at all-time high
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary is the bridgehead for China’s economic expansion in central Europe, and cooperation is the best it has been in the two countries’ 66 years of diplomatic relations, the foreign minister said at a state award ceremony in Parliament on Friday.
Hungary is working hard to attract investments from more and more Chinese companies, Peter Szijjarto said, handing over a Hungarian-Chinese friendship award to former Socialist prime minister Peter Medgyessy and Bank of China Hungary president-CEO Chen Huaiyu.
The economic strategy of opening up to eastern countries is nothing new, Szijjarto said, noting that economic relations with China were important to all governments since Hungary’s transition to democracy.
