Frida Kahlo exhibition in Hungary for the first time
According to index.hu, the Hungarian National Gallery announced the list of exhibitions to be expected this year. Among others, visitors will be able to admire the work of Frida Kahlo, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and Dezső Korniss.
The most exciting announcement is probably the one regarding the Frida Kahlo exhibition. You can check out the characteristic paintings of the Mexican painter in July, commemorating the 111th anniversary of her birth. Most of the pictures come from the collection of Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico City.
Then, from October, the National Gallery will welcome guests with an exhibition titled ‘Bacon, Freud and the London School’, thus presenting one of the most influential periods of modern British painting. The collection comes from Tate.
The last exhibition of the year will commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Dezső Korniss.
Moreover, from May, you can also enjoy Julian Rosefeldt’s Manifesto video installation starring Cate Blanchett.
Lastly, they also announced that the Museum of Fine Arts would be reopened in October, after many months of reconstruction. The three-year-long renovation and the rehousing of the works of art cost 15 billion forints (~EUR 48m) in total.
