Ganges-Danube Cultural Festival of India this weekend
Travelo.hu writes that, to celebrate the World Day of Yoga (June 21), many cities in the country will contribute to the Ganges-Danube Cultural Festival of India between June 17-19. The programmes include dance and music performances, a film screening, an Indian martial arts show and gastronomy related events, while, of course, the visitors can enjoy several yoga classes.
In honour of the World Day of Yoga the Indian Embassy in Hungary organizes several interesting programmes to attend, calling attention to the importance of Indian culture, and the healthy and conscious living through the ancient and traditional art of yoga.
Hence, the Embassy, along with the representatives of several yoga schools in Hungary, prepare for a real cultural festival, which got its name after the most significant rivers of the two countries: the Ganges and the Danube.
The International World Day of Yoga was the idea of Narendra Modi, PM of India, who suggested it at a meeting of the United Nations back in 2014. The organization accepted the idea within a record time of three months, and the Day is celebrated annually on the 21st of June ever since.
In order to introduce the culture of India many art teams arrive from the country, but Hungarian artists will participate in the programmes too. Further entertainment will be provided meaning dance and music performances, featuring professionals of Indian martial arts, film screenings, and those attending the event shall not miss the chance to try some of the numerous yoga classes, either.
Moreover, the visitors will have the opportunity to stop by a henna artist, a puppeteer from Rajasthan and a bracelet creator, as well. The programmes are mainly free to attend, to watch the film screenings though discounted tickets shall be purchased. Also, the organizers ask the visitors to bring their matrasses to the yoga classes.
The locations where the festival is going to be held are Budapest, Balatonfüred, Debrecen, Eger, Esztergom, Nagykanizsa, Sopron, Szeged and Szentendre this year. Further information shall be found on the event’s Facebook page.
