Government: Tusk ‘trampling over’ rule of law in Poland
Ruling Fidesz MEP Balázs Hidvéghi said on Friday that recent developments in Poland had been “gruesome”, with the new liberal government of Donald Tusk “trampling over” the rule of law.
Citing the Polish culture minister’s decision to dismiss executives from the state media company, Hidvéghi told daily Magyar Nemzet on Friday that it was an unconcealed attempt to trample on the freedom of opinion, “demonstrating how twisted left-liberal politics have become”.
“This is unacceptable in a democratic state based on the rule of law, it goes against all written and unwritten rules, and no election victory authorises such practices,” he added.
He said it should also be noted that the measures had been taken by a coalition that in recent years continually criticised the PiS government and Hungary citing the rule of law.
Hidvéghi said there were no reactions from Brussels so far, which was “no surprise” considering the “double standards and political cynicism ruling in Brussels”.

Now for the facts.

“In its election monitoring report, the OSCE — an office for democracy and human rights — said that state broadcasters openly “promoted the ruling party and its policies and at the same time demonstrated open hostility toward the opposition,” giving its candidates a “clear advantage” at the ballot box.”
“Poland’s press freedom score has tumbled since 2015 as the previous populist cabinet used public broadcasters as “instruments of government propaganda,” according to the 2023 report of Reporters Without Borders. The country dropped to 57th in the world in terms of media freedom from 18th when the nationalists took power eight years ago.”

Funny, when the instruments of propaganda swing to the left there is no outcry from the woke media. What a double standard!
Marki-Zay got a total of five minutes to speak on national television during the 2022 election campaign while Orban and his cronies appear endlessly 24/7. This is the undeniable example of the government party controlling media that shuts out any opposition and denies Hungarians a true democracy. To add why was their no televised debate between the party leaders? There is no way Orban would ever allow open transparent debate as exists in democracies because there is risk to him when he has to defend his policies. The same media control in Poland existed under the Pis party and thank God that the Polish people were able to elect a government just in time to stop and reverse a slide into a situation as now exists in Hungary. Hungary has passed a point of no return establishing a one-party state with virtual monopoly party control over media, the courts, the bureaucratic apparatus and large sections of the economy. Democracy is dead in Hungary.
Polish people voted for pseudo communism when they elected Tusk. With their vote, they ceded sovereignty to globalist and EU socialists. The Polish people voted for misery and oppression and they surely achieved it.
