Great ways to explore different cultures

The world is so diverse and there are so many amazing places and cultures to explore. Even if you used every vacation break you had to see new places and faces you still wouldn’t be able to explore everything the world has to offer in your lifetime. With some planning and persistence, you can still manage to experience a multitude of different places and cultures. The following ideas are great options to see more of the world in easy and unique ways.
Cruising
If you love seeing multiple places and cultures during a short or mid-length vacation, then an all inclusive cruise is a wonderful option to get the most bang for your buck. There are so many awesome cruises that make multiple stops in different countries or islands. You get to be pampered on your ship and enjoy all the different avenues of fun and entertainment onboard, and then you can visit interesting ports and countries on different excursions.
Cruises are the ultimate way to visit multiple locales on vacation because you don’t have to worry about the travel arrangements from place to place. If you love to take in as many sights and sounds as you can during your breaks, then cruises were made for you. There are many different options too, from the Caribbean to European cities, so you can see more of the world by luxury cruise ship.
Volunteer Vacations
Volunteer vacations are ideal for people who really want to immerse themselves in a culture and maybe want to go far outside of the beaten path. If you have a special interest in a country or region you can begin your search for the perfect vacation to volunteer by seeing what those places have to offer. You may even be able to narrow it down based on your own personal interests and strengths as well.
There are volunteer vacations in Nepal where you can take in the amazing views of the Himalayan mountains and then help teach English to local school children. If you love animals you can go to Costa Rica and help save sea turtles while you meet the locals and learn how to surf. There are so many amazing options to choose from, so you just have to find the places and people you want to meet most.
Guided Tours
Another great way to experience as much of a place and culture as you can is to go on a guided tour. There are many different ways you can accomplish this, from traveling with a large group through a company-provided tour or working with an experienced travel agent to find a local guide to take you around a city or country. Using guided tours to explore different areas will ensure that you see all the highlights that a country and culture has to offer.
If you don’t want the whole experience to be programmed you can always opt to just have a few days of your vacation be specifically guided by a local. If you don’t have much on your agenda you can get to know your guide and have them take you to all their favorite places and sites to see. It definitely can be a more intimate and unique experience when you get to see a destination through the eyes of someone who lives there.
Visit Nearby Communities
Last but certainly not least, an amazing way to experience a different culture without traveling to that country is to visit your local communities that might have different cultural populations. Many times cities have an area that is akin to San Francisco’s famous Chinatown where you can feel transported into another country just a few miles from your own home. You can absolutely get a glimpse of faraway places by frequenting different cultural markets and restaurants.
Be sure to try some of these amazing ways to explore different countries and cultures. You will be surprised just how much you learn and experience from using your vacation time in these different ways, or even just visiting local communities regularly.
