Gulyás calls on leftist MEPs not to ‘hinder wage hikes for teachers’
Hungarian leftist MEPs should stop hindering teachers’ wage hikes in Hungary, Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, told a regular press briefing on Thursday.
The government is adamant to bring about the wage hikes, using budgetary resources “to a significant degree”. At the same time, the scale and speed of the raises depends on EU resources, he said.
Some 12-13 percent of the raises the government has committed to by 2030 would come from EU coffers, he said. “If we get there”, teachers’ salaries could reach HUF 800,000 (EUR 2,100) in 18 months and 1 million forints by 2027, he said.
He called on leftist MEPs and their parliamentary groups to “stop hindering” Hungary’s access to the funds, and to call on the European Commission to allow Hungary “to take the first big step this September at the latest”.

Why is Gergely such a liar, he knows that it is HIS party that is hindering raises for teachers. NO, we will not chase your new shiney object. You have been promising the raise for years. When the teachers protest, it is against YOU, no one else.
So now it’s the Left’s fault that teachers’ wage are not raised, besides EU not giving anything? This government will never take responsibility for its non-action.
