Healthcare workers infected their colleagues because they worked without face masks?
They took off their masks because breathing was very difficult under them. Afterwards, they sat down to have lunch with their colleagues even though they worked in the infectious unit of the hospital, and this is how they passed on the disease to them.
According to RTL Klub, healthcare workers can enter the infectious disease department of hospitals where coronavirus patients are being treated only if they are wearing a face mask, protective suit, and gloves. Even the chief medical officer of Hungary highlighted this requirement in one of her press conferences in April.
However, two nurses of the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital in Budapest broke this rule, and they took off their masks because
it was very difficult to breathe under them.
Moreover, later on, they sat down with their colleagues to have lunch together.

Based on the TV channel’s information, the hospital started to test their employees in the last few days, but the preliminary results are already bad since more than a dozen nurses and doctors are infected. The TV channel says that
the epicentre of the disease’s spread was the two nurses.
RTL news asked the Operative Board about the issue, but they have not answered yet. The Ministry of Human Capacities said that the nurses did not take off their masks. However, they acknowledged that there are 24 workers out of approximately 1,400 who caught the virus in the hospital. Before, in the Szent Borbála Hospital of Tatabánya, 46 healthcare workers got infected, and a 41-year-old orderly died in the disease.
RTL Klub asked the Operative Board about how many Hungarian healthcare workers have already been infected, but they did not answer. On April 27, Cecília Müller, the chief medical officer of Hungary, said that
13 pc of the total number of infected people in Hungary are healthcare employees.
