Horrible aircraft crash near the Hungarian border claims lives – photos

The crash occurred on the Slovak side of the border near the village of Kőhídgyarmat (Kamenný Most). Emergency services and firefighters arrived quickly but were unable to save the passengers. Our article includes an account from a volunteer firefighter present at the scene of the tragedy.

Another light aircraft crash took place in Kőhídgyarmat, in Slovakia’s Érsekújvár district. The accident, which happened on Saturday afternoon, claimed the lives of a 33-year-old man and a 42-year-old man. According to a Facebook post by a paramedic in the responding ambulance, news of the crash came shortly before 2 p.m. from a local resident. Soon afterwards, the Nitra Regional Operations Centre also issued an alert.
At the time, his unit was in Komárno with six personnel undergoing advanced first aid training at the ZAMED Training Centre. They immediately set off and reported to the commander of the professional fire brigade in Párkány.

Victims of the aircraft crash could not be saved
“Under his command, we carried out the tasks assigned to us. We assisted forensic experts and aviation accident investigators. After the Párkány unit departed, we helped secure the scene, remove the aircraft wreckage, and safely extract the remaining fuel from the plane. We also took part in transporting the bodies of the victims and helped return their relatives home,” he added.

The accident was most extensively reported by the Új Szó news outlet, according to local Hungarian media. The central dispatch centre quickly deployed an emergency ambulance and a rescue helicopter to the scene. Paramedics did all they could but were only able to confirm the deaths of the two men on board. One was 42, the other 33.

One of the victims was a firefighter
TV Markíza reported that one of the victims was a volunteer firefighter – a detail confirmed by the testimony of the volunteer responder. He wrote: “Every fatal accident is distressing, but when the victim is a friend or comrade, the situation becomes especially hard.”

According to the local mayor, who spoke to the media, the owner of the aircraft regularly organised recreational flights for family members. Prior to the crash, he had successfully completed numerous trouble-free take-offs and landings.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
