Hotels in Budapest listed among the best on Forbes Travel Guide list
Seven hotels and a spa from Hungary were added to the annual list of Forbes Travel Guide this year.
According to Turizmus.com, the Forbes Travel Guide is the only independent international rating system that fully evaluates luxury hotels, restaurants, and spas. Their professional inspectors arrive at the site in incognito and evaluate it based on 900 different criteria. The company’s annual ratings, reviews, and travel recommendations help discerning travellers learn about the best luxury experiences in the world. The rating (five-star, four-star, or recommended) is awarded to a place solely on the basis of the results of independent testing.
A total of 1,871 facilities from around the world were added to the 2021 list, now published for the 63rd time in a row.
Inspectors from the Forbes Travel Guide visited the facilities before the pandemic and during periods when epidemiological regulations allowed it. They spent two nights and three days in the hotels.
In the description of the evaluation, it is emphasised that the most attention was paid to the service and the staff’s attitude while compiling this year’s list, so service counted 75 per cent and the quality of facilities counted 25 per cent in the evaluation. Incidentally, the criteria include the choice of healthy food as well as the design of the staff uniform.

For the fifth time in a row, Hungary’s Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest earned a five-star rating in the hotel category. The inspectors appreciated the details, which reflect the hotel’s eclectic past, as well as the services of the reception.
As we wrote before, Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest also appeared on the Forbes Travel Guide’s 2020 Star Rating announcement. Read more HERE about the statement of Yves Giacometti, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest.
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest, the only one in Hungary in the spa category, is also on this year’s list of the Forbes Travel Guide, with a four-star rating.
Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest is listed for the fifth time in a row in the Forbes Travel Guide, and it has received a four-star rating again. Among other things, the inspectors highlighted the hotel’s own restaurant concept, the “Downtown Gastronomic Quarter”, in the evaluation.
The Corinthia Hotel Budapest also received a four-star rating, where, among others, the ballroom and the Royal Spa caught the attention of the inspectors.
The Ritz-Carlton Budapest received four stars as well, where the atmosphere of the Dome Lounge and the view of the city were a special experience for the inspectors.
The Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel, the InterContinental Budapest, and the Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge appeared as recommended on this year’s list by Forbes.
The 2021 laureates are the epitome of versatility in the tourism sector, said Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide. In his opinion, during this challenging period, these hotels managed to overcome a number of difficulties while maintaining a high level of service and ensuring the safety and health of their guests and staff. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the hotels will soon be able to reopen and welcome their guests, and that the borders would be opened as well and travel would be safe again.
Incidentally, most of the nine five-star-rated hotels are located in Tokyo, which has been preparing for the Olympics for years.
The results of the ratings were announced on February 16.
