Warning: Paid parking in Budapest to be extended – here are the new locations

Parking in Budapest can be quite distressing, especially in peak hours, and especially if we find a parking zone where we have to pay. Many parking spaces and zones that were free before have become paid spaces and zones recently, and this trend seems to continue. It just emerged that paid parking in Budapest will be extended to further locations.

Parking zones made paid since November

The areas of exclusive residential parking spaces and paid parking zones in Budapest will soon change, Énbudapestem.hu pointed out. Last November, the General Assembly of the capital decided to extend the parking zones in the city. Thus, motorists will have to pay in more places for parking in Budapest. At that time, a total of four districts were affected: Districts IX, XI, XII and XIV, namely Ferencváros, Újbuda, Hegyvidék and Zugló.

More specifically, the following locations have since been extended to paid parking in Budapest:

• In District IX, the waiting zone “C” was extended by the area bounded by Vágóhíd Street – Üllői Road – Könyves Kálmán Boulevard – Soroksári Road.
• In District XI, the Őrmező area has been moved from parking zone “D” to zone “C” in order to maximise waiting time at 3 hours. In addition, the area bounded by Hegyalja Road – Budaörsi Road – Zólyom köz – Zólyomi Road – Radvány Street – Breznó köz, including the bordering roads, as well as the entire length of Nedecvár Street, Breznó köz and Muskotály Street have been included in waiting zone “C”.
• The property 9814/9 in District XII (at the intersection of Istenhegyi Road and Németvölgyi Road) has been reclassified from waiting zone “B” to zone “A”.
• In District XIV, the waiting zone “C” was extended by the area bounded by Csömöri Road – Rákospatak Street – Vezér Street – Egressy Road – Lőcsei Road – Szugló Street – Fűrész Street – Bosnyák Street – Lőcsei Road – Csömöri Road, and the area behind Örs vezér Square 11-20. was included in the waiting zone “C”.

New zones to pay for parking in Budapest

Now, Énbudapestem reported that we have to pay for parking at Sashegy in Újbuda and at Örs vezér Square in Zugló. According to Világgazdaság, these mean new paid zones. In Zugló, trial operations will start from 8 May in the area bounded by Nagy Lajos Király Road – Fogarasi Road – Örs Vezér Road – Örs vezér Square. A week later, from 15 May, motorists will receive a penalty package if they do not buy a parking ticket.
