Hungarian castle hotel among Europe’s bests

Heritage Hotels of Europe 2018 awards were announced on November 18th during an elegant celebration hosted by the 5-star castle hotel Château Bela, Slovakia. Prónay Castle of Alsópetény won the “Host of the year” award, one of the seven categories, which means that it is among the bests of Europe. Photo gallery below.

The “Host of the year”

Representing the Prónay Castle, director Szilvia Tömösvári received the award. Eszter Gulyás, chairwoman for the Hungarian Castle Hotel Association said that the title “Host of the year” is probably the highest ranked acknowledgement because it recognizes not only the professional work of the hotel staff regarding all services but also the presence of the hosts – reported turizmusonline .hu.

The awarded hotels were selected from 100 castles located in the 9 member countries. After visitors voted, an international professional jury selected the

winners of the seven categories:

Heritage & Design: Chateau Gbeľany, Gbeľany, Slovakia

Heritage & Wellness: Grandhotel Praha, Tatranská Lomnica, Slovakia

Heritage & Gastronomy: Strasserwirt – Herrenansitz zu Tirol, Strassen, Austria

Heritage & Hospitality: Romantik Hotel Gmachl, Elixhausen, Austria

Heritage & Culture: Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, Austria

Heritage & Romance: Hotel Château Béla, Belá, Slovakia

Host of the Year: Prónay Kastély, Alsópetény, Hungary

The Heritage Hotels of Europe was formed by the Austrian “Schlosshotels & Herrenhäuser”, the Slovakian “Historic Hotels of Slovakia” and the “Hungarian Castle Hotel Association”. They aim to represent all castle hotels of Europe.

Perfect venue for any kinds of event

Through their cooperation, Eszter Gulyás (Hungary), Jan Svoboda (Slovakia) and Max Eidlhuber (Austria) would like to create a European network. Furthermore, they would like to focus on promoting cultural tourism, which will become more and more important in the future.

Currently, the nine member states of their association are the following:

– Hungary

– Austria

– Slovakia

– the Czech Republic,

– Germany,

– Italy,

– Slovenia,

– Croatia

– Switzerland.

In fact, the Baroque-style Pronay castle in Alsópetény is very close to Budapest and it has been completely restored recently. Thus, it provides a perfect venue for weddings, family events or parties for friends and even for conferences or cultural events. The 5-star hotel contains 4 luxury apartments and 24 rooms. Furthermore, the capacity of its event hall is 150.
