Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta helping refugees

The Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta has appealed to the public to make donations for people fleeing and suffering from the effects of the war in Ukraine.

“We cannot stay out of the aid efforts,” Imre Kozma, the Catholic priest who founded and leads the charity, said in the appeal. “We want to save lives. Those who want to assist in this life-saving campaign should not hesitate to do so.”

He said the charity service is supporting people who are forced to stay in Ukraine while also preparing to aid refugees arriving in Hungary.

First Lady Anita Herczegh, the charity service’s goodwill ambassador, also asked the public to help those forced to flee their homes in Ukraine by supporting the charity’s humanitarian programmes.
