Hungarian cultural sector employees hold demo for pay rise
Budapest (MTI) – Around 400 employees in Hungary’s cultural sector held a demonstration in central Budapest on Tuesday evening to press demands to a pay rise and greater respect.
Cultural workers have not received a pay rise for the past ten years, said Csaba Csoti, deputy chairman of the public museums and public cultural employees union (KKDSZ).
Josef Krejbych, head of the European Federation of Public Service Unions, expressed solidarity at the protest and called on the Hungarian government to recognise the broad economic and social importance of culture.
