If you have never been to Europe before but have daydreamed of backpacking across the continent, you probably look forward to seeing the beautiful sights in Paris, Barcelona, and Milan. Another very popular destination for tourists is the city of Budapest in Hungary.
Here, we will tell you why Hungary is not just a good place to visit but a nice area to settle in as well.
The Country
Hungary is a European nation right smack in the middle of the continent.
They are a country with a rich history spanning the Roman Empire, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Second World War, so you will be sure to see a lot of stunning architecture and experience the taste of various interesting cuisines. Today, Hungary is a democratic parliamentary republic led by a president.
Most people measure their happiness according to their work and life balance. In their Better Life Initiative report in 2018, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that a good 82% of Hungary’s residents are content with how their time is being spent. The same study by the OECD said that only 14% of the less than 10 million population reported to have low life satisfaction. This could be because only 8% of the people live in poverty in relation to their income.
The World Bank defines a high-income economy as those with a gross national income per capita of $12,536 and above. With this description, the OECD recognizes Hungary as a high-income economy.
The System
One factor that probably adds to the people’s happiness is the free education in place.

“ today, Hungary is a democratic parliamentary republic led by a president….”
Good sense of humor.
A smorgasbord of social and economic horrors….
