Hungarian foreign minister urges peace in Ukraine in front of a Greater Hungary map
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, gave a speech in the Várkert Bazár (Castle Garden Bazaar) in Budapest on Monday, urging peace talks and a ceasefire in Ukraine. However, he did so in an unusual environment.
The Foreign Minister of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, said on Monday that NATO lives in a bubble. However, fortunately there is life outside the bubble, where Hungary’s position is overwhelmingly in favour, he added. This position is the “pro-peace” stance. And, according to Mr Szijjártó, the majority of EU and NATO member states are “pro-war” when it comes to Russia‘s war in Ukraine. “As long as we have this global majority, there is hope that this war can be brought to an end as soon as possible,” Szijjártó shared in a Facebook post.
Telex noticed that the foreign minister said all of this in front of a map of Greater Hungary – part of which now belongs to Ukraine. According to the news portal, this might give us an idea about what kind of peace the Hungarian foreign minister is urging.
“How elegant and pro-Ukrainian gesture it is to talk about peace and security in front of a map of a piece of Ukraine belonging to Hungary is for everyone to decide,” Telex concludes.

Did Russian puppet Szijjarto ever say that Russia which invaded Ukraine is “pro-war”? You have to be a complete idiot to believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Where was Szijjarto and what did he say when Putin launched his invasion? He calls the people who help to defend Ukraine “pro-war.” It’s completely disgusting.
Sound bites are easier in front of a friendly audience – Mr. Szijjártó is finding his position hard to defend in critical questioning:

Hardly covered himself in glory … And no – it’s not media bias, it is what journalists are supposed to do!
I thought the Greater Hungary map was a misplaced footie fan thing. Apparently they feel encouraged by our Politicians…
Russia invaded Ukraine not withou e reason. The Ucraina since 2016 and USA worked on it to have a war.
Petrusinu Siartu, what a clown.
No matter how they try, it seems very much like they just can’t get away from the Greater Hungary subject, or maybe they’re not even trying to hide it anymore?
All these knee jerk reactions. Not Hungary’s war. NATO USA EU Russia feeding it. Ukraine is just the playground. Hungary is helping refugees and giving financial aid. If Hungary gets involved in this war or completely ruins its economy (thanks Zelensky) what is the purpose of finding refuge there from the war? You can’t actually believe every loud mouth nationalistic Hungarian or any other as a matter of fact. Hungary is helping in demining, importing special fuel to Ukraine for the tanks, According to the leaked Pentagon documents Hungary gave it’s airspace to helicopters sent to Ukraine. Kremlin declared Hungary as “unfriendly country”, because Hungary voted all the sanctions against Russia.
Read, research, read, research and read and research some more before you speak. No one wants old historical territories back. Only minority rights restored. The map shows ethnic Hungarians residing beyond Hungary’s border. USA has military and political presence everywhere. Raged wars and invaded counties in the near past and I don’t see ppl pointing fingers. Slovakia same way as Hungary very dependent from the Russian gas and oil, together with Czechia got exceptions from the sanctions and paying for the energy holders to Putin. Meantime all of this just a small segment compare what the EU still paying to Putin. More money to Putin? You mean the EU financing Putin, not small Hungary with it’s totally insignificant amount of payment… You are aware of the proportions? Everyone needs to stop buying into the theater the EU , Russia and Nato is selling everyone like there is an actual good side and bad side. There are just people, young soldiers siding on both side and Europe economy is getting worse. Millions of dollars thrown down the drain for a war that can’t be won. There will be no winners.
