Hungarian gas prices increased the most in entire Europe
There were only three countries in the EU where gas became more expensive, but prices have not increased anywhere as much as in Hungary. Still, the Hungarian overhead is still one of the most customer friendly, as it is revealed by HVG.hu.
The price of gas decreased significantly in entire Europe, except in Hungary, the Netherlands and Sweden, according to Eurostat’s public data. The 1.6 percent gas price raise recorded in 2015-2016 in Hungary was the highest in the whole EU.
But Hungarian overhead is still relatively low. Hungary has the fourth lowest gas prices and second lowest electricity prices in the EU. The situation is different if we are counting purchase power parity: then we do not have a great chance to get among the cheapest. From this aspect, electricity is the cheapest in Finland, Luxemburg and the Netherlands, while gas is the cheapest in Luxemburg, Estonia and Great Britain.
Domestic gas prices decreased by 10.5 percent in the whole EU during the examined period. Electricity also became cheaper, though only by an average of 2.3 percent.
