Hungarian government announces and revises: Orbán to meet President Trump

Viktor Orbán is set to meet Donald Trump soon, according to an announcement made on the Hungarian government’s Facebook page on Monday morning. However, the post was later edited.

Previously, one of the ministers had also indicated that Viktor Orbán was planning to visit the White House. On Monday morning, the Government of Hungary shared a photo on its Facebook page with the caption:

Viktor Orbán will soon meet President Trump again.

No further details about the planned meeting have been disclosed, but recent statements offer some hints. Last week, in an interview with ATV, Prime Minister Gergely Gulyás confirmed that an Orbán-Trump meeting would take place in the near future, possibly in Washington.

“The prime minister has already met with Clinton, Bush and Trump in the White House, and the best news for Hungary is that he will now meet President Trump again,” the minister stated.

The new US president is set to take office on Monday, but it has already been reported that Viktor Orbán will not attend the inauguration. This makes it clear that any meeting will occur after the event.

  1. Orban is the most important person in Europe and is great help to Trump on ukraine.
He has been telling you the war would never have happened if trump was presideny- many of your readers would rather see more dead bodies for the last 3 years

  2. @TM – this is an unprovable claim. Even if Mr. Trump might have been able to discourage Mr. Putin from attacking Ukraine, the question is: at what cost?

Regarding the “dead bodies” – you are referring to Ukrainians, right? Trying to defend their sovereign state, freedom, democracy, liberty, way of life? All about choices. What exactly would you have Hungary and Hungarians do, in the hypothetical situation we would face a similar situation without the NATO or EU umbrella? Very curious!
