Shocking! Hungarian grandmother on the brink of death found in a basement in Slovakia – 18+

A tragic event shocked people in Slovakia. An old woman was treated horribly by her own son, whose behaviour and negligence led to the old woman’s death. She was put in the basement, starved, and left without water. She was completely dehydrated. She was found by a close family member, but by that time, rats had already chewed her face. Locals revealed disturbing details about the son of the deceased local. Her tragic story is one about motherly love, the neglect of a son, and not accepting help when she should have. 

Šarovce, or Sáró in Hungarian, is a municipality in Levice District, Nitra region. The place is inhabited by Hungarian, Slovak, Gypsy, and Czech people. In 2017, there were as few as 1,616 residents in Sáró.

The description of the place might suggest that it is a tranquil, beautifully peaceful place. Recently, however, a shockingly cruel event took place in the municipality. Locals portrayed a complex family issue and gave some information about the difficult life of the deceased old woman.

People in the village said that her close family members beat her and put her in the basement. The woman lived alone, but a few years ago, her son and his fiancée moved in. One of the locals said that the man drinks a lot. Another local said that the woman was starving. She went from house to house, asking for food.

Origo writes that the police were called on the son, but the mother always defended him. The mayor wanted to help her get another accommodation and arrange food delivery for her, but she refused it. Her son is now in custody. Taking into consideration the various aspects of the case, the police made the decision not to give details about the tragic event.
