Hungarian police officers to protect Bulgarian, Serbian borders

A contingent of Hungarian police officers were greeted in Budapest on Tuesday before leaving to assist border control efforts in southern Bulgaria and Serbia, the national police headquarters said on its website.
The 26 police officers of the 10th Hungarian contingent heading to Bulgaria and the 35th contingent heading to Serbia were sent off by head of the border control and in-depth inspection department Balázs Bányai.
He said Hungarian police officers played a key role in ensuring border protection and were contributing to the security of Europe.

Hungarian police officers were helping local authorities to curb illegal migration, he said, adding that the migration situation on the Western Balkan route remained volatile, posing serious challenges for the countries involved in border protection.
