Hungarian police team returns from Macedonian-Greek border mission
Budapest (MTI) – A police unit has returned to Hungary after a month-long mission served at the Macedonian-Greek border, the police said on its website on Sunday.
The 25-member contingent served jointly with the Macedonian authorities in operations aimed at strengthening the border. The mission ended on Sunday.
The Hungarian officers supported border patrol with off-road trucks, thermal handheld cameras and nightvision devices. Their main tasks included patrolling and reconnaissance and preventing border violations, while they also cooperated on capturing human smugglers and illegal migrants in Macedonia.
Experts who travelled on the mission with the team also served on main and minor roads moving away from the border and deeper into the country, the statement said.
