Hungarian president Áder decorates Ukrainian film festival director
Kiev (MTI) – President János Áder has granted the Hungarian Cross of Merit Gold state award to Andriy Khalpakhchi, general director of the Ukrainian Molodist International Film Festival, the Hungarian embassy in Kiev said on Thursday.
The award was granted on the anniversary of the outbreak of Hungary’s 1848-49 revolution and war in recognition of Khalpakhchi’s efforts promoting Hungarian films, the embassy said. Hungarian ambassador Ernő Keskeny handed over the award at a reception at the Hungarian embassy in Kiev on Thursday.
Khalpakhchi is an expert in Hungarian film and has demonstrated special interest in films focusing on the 1956 anti-Soviet uprising. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the uprising last year, a Hungarian film from each decade since the revolution was shown at Molodist.
