Hungarian real estate developments awarded with the most illustrious prizes
According to pestbuda.hu, the Castle Garden Bazaar, the Váci 1 building and the 10 stops of metro line 4 won illustrious awards at the International Real Estate Federation’s competition.
“The Hungarian real estate developments achieved the greatest success in history by winning four first prizes and two second prizes at the International Real Estate Federation’s (FIABCI) Prix d’Excellence Awards” said László Gönczi, the president of the Hungarian department.
He added that the international jury consisted of 63 experts from 32 countries, who represented the different sectors of the real estate development industry. The results indicate the high standard of Hungarian tenders. In the 25 years of the competition, more than 20 Hungarian developments were awarded.
This year’s Hungarian winners included the Castle Garden Bazaar, the Váci 1 building, the 10 stops of metro line 4 and the Cement Factory of Királyegyháza. The jury awarded two first prizes in the heritage protection category. Hungarian developments won both: the Castle Garden Bazaar entered by Swietelsky Hungary Ltd. and the Váci 1 building renovated by Horizon Development Ltd. Moreover, Váci 1 finished in the 2nd place in the international ranking of best commercial institutions, while it is the N°1 commercial institution in Europe. This was the first time that a Hungarian project received two FIABCI awards.

Swietelsky Hungary Ltd. also entered the 10 stops of metro line 4 and won the first prize in the category of facilities serving public purposes. The success of the company is another record, because this was the first time that a Hungarian company won two first prizes in the same year.
In the category of industrial facilities, the first prize was awarded to LAFARGE Cement Hungary Ltd.’s Cement Factory of Királyegyháza, an environmentally friendly factory equipped with the most modern technology. The Municipality of the 13th district won a silver prize in one of the toughest categories, the masterplan category with its project called “The reconstruction of Angyalföld”. This was the third time that the district was awarded at the illustrious competition.
Attila Kovács, the founder of Horizon Development highlighted that the acknowledgement is a great message for investors. Budapest has already been a real estate developer magnet, but it is quite probable that even more investors will choose Budapest after such great feedback. Not to mention that the conditions are very predictable and reliable in the city when it comes to real estate development.
According to László Gönczi, the FIABCI Congress will be held in Dubai next year. The next tender’s topic will be Happy City, and there are three districts in Budapest that have been renewed recently, so they will probably have good chances to attract attention to Hungary, again.
