Hungarian Socialists: Fight for human rights, social security and democracy
Hungarian families badly need European Union funds to tackle the current cost-of-living crisis, the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) told MTI after talks with the European parliamentary leader of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) in Madrid.
The Hungarian delegation attending a Socialist International congress has asked Iratxe Garcia Perez to help develop a “uniform Socialist position” on the funds due to Hungary. The delegates also asked the European Socialists to develop a timetable for “forcing” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to comply with rule-of-law norms and eliminate corruption.
The Socialists and Social Democrats have arrived at the conclusion that the crises should be overcome with more welfare payments and state intervention as neoliberal economic policies always generate inequalities and the related costs have to be borne by the common people.
MSZP co-leader Ágnes Kunhalmi has called for joint efforts to protect employees, ensure housing security, guarantee the future of families and young people, and tackle climate and environmental problems. “We have to fight for human rights, social security and democracy again and again,” she said.

Socialism is never a good system. Capitalism affords people a standard of a better life. Hungarians should think back of the government that was instituted after Russian soldiers returned home. The socialist government sold every viable industry, unemployment was high, and the foreign debt was equal to GDP. Socialists also want control of citizens; socialist governments mean loss of freedom.
I believe the theory of socialism is good,it is the implementation and administration that needs to be monitored.Human failings such as greed, nepotism, favoritism etc are the weakness. To say that capitalism affords people a better standard of life is true for some but not for all.Even in supposedly wealthy countries like USA millions of people are on the breadline, working two or three jobs just to survive, many are homeless, children go to school hungry but this is all hidden and ignored by the mainstream media and the better off.
Capitalists are driven by profit,by shareholders and how this profit is achieved does not really matter(Elon Musk is a good example).Just look in any supermarket and see something like apples at 300ft/kg…how can any farmer make a living at these prices, the supermarkets don,t care, they will sell at below cost on certain items just to attract customers regardless of the impact on others. Other industries such as electronics or domestic appliances conduct a policy of deliberate obsolescence where they ensure a part will fail after a certain period forcing people to buy a new model and adding to the mounting pile of waste.
There is a huge world hunger/famine problem yet millions of pounds worth of crops rot on UK farms because of labour shortages.Fishermen are forced to dump surplus catches because of quotas imposed by the EU.
Socialism need not mean to “control citizens” but rather to work for the common good and have equality for all.Again just look at any country today such as France or Germany where you have identity cards,CCTV everywhere, personal info available to government depts etc etc, where is the “freedom”?
Socialism could work but for the weaknesses of people.
