Foreign minister Szijjártó reacts swiftly
The latest strike targeted the Unecha oil terminal. According to Nexta, this marks the third such attack, following previous ones on 6 and 13 August. On 18 August, the Nyikolskoye station was struck.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó responded immediately to the news, stating that oil deliveries to Hungary had once again been halted. He called it another attack on Hungary’s energy security and emphasized that the Hungarian government remains committed to peace and will not be drawn into the war. In a later published post Szijjártó said the renovation of the pipeline would take at least 5 days.

Target was Belarus, not Hungary
Nexta clarified that the attacks were not directed at Hungary, but at the Belarusian regime led by Alexander Lukashenko. The channel emphasised that the Druzhba pipeline is vital to Lukashenko, as it supplies crude oil to the Mazyr and Navapolatsk refineries.
This section of the pipeline is owned by the Russian company Transneftprodukt.
Portfolio also noted that Kyiv has recently increased deliberate strikes on Russia’s critical infrastructure, targeting several refineries and triggering supply shortages in some regions.

Russian oil isn’t as “reliable” as previously thought. Time to get oil from sources other than from your Russian comrades Viktor. Hungarians you need to get a new leader who can detach the toxic umbilical cord from Hell that attaches you to Russia.
