Hungarian tourist bus crashes near Subotica: 8 injured

A Hungarian tourist bus carrying 82 passengers was involved in a traffic accident near Subotica, Serbia, on Sunday afternoon, according to Serbian police reports. The bus was heading toward the Kelebia–Tompa border crossing when it collided with a trailer attached to a Serbian-registered truck on the Subotica bypass road.

Eight people were injured in the crash and taken to the Subotica General Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that none of the injuries are life-threatening.

According to regional reports from Somogy County, the passengers were graduating students from Táncsics Mihály Secondary School in Kaposvár, returning home from their class trip to Greece. The students had travelled to the island of Kefalonia just over a week ago.

The accident occurred around 1:30 PM. Authorities partially closed the road during the on-site investigation.

Not the first today

Unfortunately, this was not the first bus accident today involving Hungarians. As we reported this morning, a double-decker bus crashed into a ditch between Kunszentmárton and Tiszaföldvár at dawn today.

According to the latest information, a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition, and a 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. Seventeen people, including 11 children, suffered minor injuries, Telex reports.

Update: The injured have been allowed to go home

According to a new article by Pannon RTV, the eight people injured in the bus accident in the early afternoon have been discharged from the Szabadka Public Hospital.
