Hungary Airlines’ first route and its date revealed!

Hungary Airlines, the newly established Hungarian airline, is set to launch its first scheduled cargo flight on 5 February 2025. The Airbus A330F aircraft will depart from Budapest at 12:10 PM, heading to Hong Kong, and is expected to return on 6 February at 5:20 PM under flight number HA102. Following this inaugural journey, the airline plans to operate the route three times a week.

Hungary Airlines’ first possible flight

The airline, which received its operating license at the end of 2024, will initially focus on cargo transport. Hungary Airlines is majority-owned by Chinese businessman Wu Jiang, who is reportedly a Hungarian citizen. The two minority stakeholders include the Beijing-based UTL (Beijing) Digital Logistics Co. Ltd. and the Hungarian state-owned Air Hungary Szolgáltató Plc., which joined as a shareholder in late November 2024, Infostart writes.

According to Budflyer, the airline’s Airbus A330F recently flew to Shanghai from Budapest for undisclosed reasons. It remains unclear whether the aircraft will return with a new livery in the coming days.

Hungary Airlines’ cargo operations will be integrated into UTLINK’s logistics network, with the state-owned aircraft playing a key role in international freight transport. As the airline prepares for its first official flight, industry observers are closely watching its development, particularly its expansion strategy and potential future passenger operations.

The airline obtained its licences recently

As we reported before, Hungary Airlines, tasked with managing a state-owned Airbus A330-200F freighter, began test flights in December 2024 and completed additional practice flights in early January 2025. The A330-200F, a 2014-vintage aircraft previously operated by Qatar Airways, was in service with low-cost carrier Wizz Air until late November 2024.
