PM Orbán remains alone again in EU with rejecting statement about Israel
Hungary vetoed an EU statement condemning the Israeli Knesset’s rejection of the Palestinian state. As a result, the statement was published by Josep Borell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs.
According to Euronews, the EU wanted to condemn a Knesset resolution declining the existence of Palestinian statehood. Based on diplomatic sources, 26 member states were for it, while Hungary was against that statement. Since such resolutions require unanimity, the statement could only be published by the EU’s High Representative of Foreign Affairs, Josep Borell.
The Israeli “text says that Palestinian statehood would pose an “existential danger” to Israel”, Euronews wrote.
Not the first time that Hungary has blocked an EU statement
“A credible pathway to Palestinian statehood is a crucial component of that political process. No hope, no horizon for the Palestinian people will only deepen the conflict,” Borell wrote in a tweet.
“Budapest has previously blocked an EU statement calling on Israel to refrain from striking the southern Gazan town of Rafah, and has derailed efforts to sanction extremist Israeli settlers responsible for violence in the occupied West Bank”, Euronews added.

After the successful outcome in the Russian-Ukranian war, at least according to origo, I am waiting for Orban to resolve the conflict in the middle East.
What and how much does Borell knows about Israel, Gaza, and West Bank. How much does this idiot Borell knows what it takes to protect Israel from terrorist and terrorist supporters living in Gaza and the West Bank. It is time for uneducated Borell to shut up and listen to Israel’s point of view. Does Borell think that P.M. Netanyahu is waging war for amusement. The EU and Borell keep ignoring the 1,200 murdered and the beheaded babies by “outstanding” citizens of Gaza. It seems that Borell and EU leaders want another Holocaust, so if you cannot help, stop interfering.
What business does the E.U. have condemning or otherwise resolutions of foreign parliaments!?!?!? How about condemning some of E.U.’s own members declaring there is no such thing as men and women and fining those who object? Or condemning some of its members’ imprisoning its citizens merely for quoting the government’s own crime statistics? Absolute madness. Eff Eu.
Steiner Michael – ongoing your lack of “basic” intellectual intelligence, displayed in your commentary, on this article subject.
DEMOCRACY is Dialogue, the CREED of membership of being a Member country of the European Union.
It provides a VOICE, the ability to openly communicate an opinion.
In the case of your party of membership, under the current “under seige” – Prime Minister of Hungary and President of the European Union, that rightfully GROWS criticism of your Fidesz Government, it’s FACT that any form of condemnation “thrust” at them, is taken with AGGRESSIVE response, that ALWAYS is covered or “shrouded” in Lies.
The European Union are “empowered” to make comment(s) whether in fact it be to member country’s of the European Union or through the Parliament of the European Union by use of it’s Parliamentary Laws, to whom they consider a comment or opinion on a matter is required.
Israel did not ask help from the EU. All statement made in support of the terrorist supporting population of Gaza and hamas is interference in the internal affairs of Israel.
The EU is a mess. Farmers are having difficulty producing food because of 10 million regulations by climate nazis. The people of EU are not safe because of the terrorists and Muslims admitted indiscriminately. Presently, other than Hungary, no EU country can even protect its Jewish population because of inept EU and national governments.
So, EU, fix your own damn problems before you cause problems in foreign nations. The world is not one big democracy, Israel is a sovereign nation that actually works unlike your mish-mash Marxist socialism.
By the way, if you were half as well informed as Mr. Steiner, your parents could be proud of you, however that is not the case.
