Hungary guest nights up 11.9 pc in January
Guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary rose by 11.9 percent year-on-year to 1,705,000 in January, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Wednesday.
The number of guest nights spent by foreigners were up by 16.9 percent at 911,000 and the number of guest nights spent by domestic travelers increased by 6.8 percent to 794,000.
KSH noted that
the coronavirus outbreak had not yet affected the number of foreign visitors in January.
Revenue of commercial accommodations climbed 18.5 percent to 34 billion forints (EUR 98m) during the period.
Total revenue per available room (TREVPAR) at hotels rose by 15.0 percent to 18,228 forints, while room rates rose by 11.2 percent to 21,500 forints. The occupancy rate at hotels was up 3.2 percentage points at 47.3 percent.
Hungarians used SZÉP recreational voucher cards to pay for 2.3 billion forints of products and services at commercial accommodations, around double the amount compared to January 2019.
