Hungary opposes EU retaliatory tariffs on US goods, says foreign minister

Hungary’s government will vote against the European Union’s retaliatory tariffs on American goods, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said during a break at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Szijjártó said the retaliatory tariffs would result in significant price rises. Instead, there ought to be negotiations on reducing burdens, he added. He pointed to the need for “strategic calm” amid the uncertainty surrounding the impact of tariffs announced by the United States.
He said the EU could have avoided the situation, but now the most important thing was “to prevent Brussels from making the situation worse” with retaliatory tariffs. Those tariffs could result in price rises in Hungary, for products such as contact lenses, cosmetics or plastic tubing used in the building industry, that add up to HUF 18 billion, he added.

Could Mr. Szijjártó please take a moment to elaborate as to how, exactly, the European Union could have avoided the US tariffs? Very curious!
The only countries that avoided tariffs are Russia, North Korea, Cuba and Belarus. The big question – why is there no exception for Hungary? Our Politicians are the embodiment of MAGA in Europe! Best Friends Forever!

The above are Trump’s statements regarding leaders that wished to discuss tariffs. At the same time Bessent, Treasury Secretary is making derogatory statements about China for not capitulation.
Trump’s tariffs are unfair. He is blaming everyone but not previous presidents and diplomats for making deals that now Trump’s considers unjust.
It is time for the EU to join China and other countries and suspend trade with the US. China should withhold all minerals and drug. Similarly, the EU should withhold products that are necessary for a modern economy like rare minerals.
President Trump was elected as the US President and not king of the world.
