Hungary sends aid to flooded Ukraine region

The Hungarian Maltese Charity’s first aid package to areas in Ukraine flooded after the dam at Nova Kakhovka was blown up will reach its destination on Friday, the charity said.

They added that further humanitarian aid packages would follow in the next few days.

Friday’s package includes 10 tonnes of food, toiletries, 70 beds and mattresses as well as petrol and diesel heaters, the charity said, adding that the aid will be received and distributed by Ukrainian state authorities in the Kherson region.

The next instalment will be sent to Zaporizhzhia, to be received by local civil groups and handed over to the evacuated, the charity said. Next week, a truckload of aid will also go to Odessa, where many people from flooded places are now sheltered, they added.
