Hungary To Integrate Birth, Death Registries
Budapest, April 23 (MTI) – Hungary’s public administration will combine its so far separately managed registries of births, marriages, partnerships, and deaths, business daily Vilaggazdasag reported today.
The integrated electronic system will be gradually introduced from the middle of July to replace the 120-year-old manual one, the paper said.
The new system will simplify procedures so that copies of entries can be requested from any registrar, rather than the current practice in which a birth or marriage certificate can only be obtained at the actual site of those events.
The project was financed using European Union funds of nearly one billion forints (EUR 3.3m), the paper said.
