The upcoming weather in Hungary will put a strain on our bodies: forecast

The weather over the coming days is expected to take a toll on our bodies. According to meteorologists, the extended weekend around 23rd October promises classic hiking weather. However, the sharp fluctuations in daily temperatures could be taxing, particularly for those sensitive to such changes – most notably the elderly and young children. While we can generally look forward to sunny conditions, winter coats and hats may well be needed in the early mornings and at dawn.
Weather forecast: significant daytime temperature fluctuation
According to Időkép, cloud cover will gradually increase by Wednesday and Thursday, with showers and even thunderstorms possible as passing cloud fronts move through. Strong gusts of wind are expected throughout the week. Still, these weather events will not be the dominant factor – rather, it is the significant daily temperature swings that could place considerable strain on many people’s systems.
In the first half of the week, temperatures close to freezing will be far from rare – particularly in the frost-prone northern valleys. However, as the day progresses, thermometers will climb steadily. On Monday, daytime highs will hover around 13°C, but by Tuesday, temperatures could reach as high as 20°C – except in northern and northeastern areas – with daytime peaks continuing to rise thereafter.

Perfect weather for hiking
By the time 23rd October, Hungary’s national holiday, arrives – with both Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz and Péter Magyar’s Tisza Party planning massive, potentially hundred-thousand-strong demonstrations in Budapest – temperatures could peak at a balmy 23°C. We may be treated to a truly late-summer, sun-drenched afternoon, even if only briefly. The second half of the week looks ideal for a long walk or a proper hike.
As the weekend approaches, the likelihood of precipitation will diminish, and aside from northern regions, daytime highs will generally remain above 20°C.

From a medical meteorological perspective, we can expect the so-called “heat-worsening effect,” which may trigger migraines, headaches, blood pressure fluctuations, and circulatory issues in those who are sensitive. Joint pains related to wear and tear may intensify in the frosty morning hours, and the wind could heighten irritability and restlessness for those particularly prone to such symptoms.
It is therefore wise to dress in layers and spend as much time outdoors as possible during the warm, sunny afternoons. After all, the abundance of sunlight is known to have a profoundly positive impact on mood and overall well-being.
