Hungary’s central bank is already taking pervasive energy-saving steps
Hungary’s central bank on Tuesday said it is launching a comprehensive energy efficiency and conservation scheme.
The National Bank of Hungary (NBH) said in a statement that it will limit the heating of its buildings in the heating season to 18 degrees Celsius, reduce their decorative lighting and take steps to utilise their greywater and reduce the temperature of their hot water.
The bank said it is pursuing habitat reconstruction projects that will be capable of absorbing the entirety of its carbon footprint in the coming years.
The statement said the NBH also aimed to transition to sustainable internal operations.
The bank said it encourages its employees to use public transport as well as sustainable and energy-saving tools. The NBH added that it will install more solar panels with a view to ending the dependence of its Buda headquarters on natural gas.
