In addition to Tunisia, Ecuador, Macau, Palestine, the Maldives and Colombia, Hungary has been one of the winners of the first video contest of the United Nations World Tourist Organization (UNWTO). The Hungarian clip took the cake among the European image films.
51 member states sent their videos to the contest. In the competition of regions, the presidents of the regional committees could vote, while the Peoples’ Choice Award was handed out on the basis of 22 500 votes, which came from all over the world. The latter category was won by Colombia with 5823 votes.
Away with the old habits
The 90-second-image film called Think Hungary – More than expected was intended for foreign communication and it was presented between in November 2013. The Hungarian Tourism Zrt. aimed with the video to surpass the preconceptions, which are much grayer than reality or outdated (horse, goulash, paprika). It shows the mood of the country along four priority areas – Budapest, Balaton, health- and conference tourism.
The film, which was directed by Danilla Kostil and Luka Kostil, won Silver Dolphin Award in tourism category at the awards ceremony of Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, which is specialized for enterprise films, last October.
