Change language:
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, will soon come alive with the colours, rhythms, and traditions of India as the Indian community prepares to celebrate Durga Puja, Golu, and Navratri together. From the 27th to 29th of September 2025, this three-day festival will unite customs from the north, south, east, and west of India, creating an unforgettable cultural experience in the heart of Europe.
The venue will be beautifully decorated with flowers and intricate rangoli designs, welcoming visitors into a vibrant atmosphere. A highlight will be Golu, a cherished South Indian tradition, especially in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. A grand display of dolls and figurines will portray mythological tales, folklore, and everyday life, reflecting devotion and creativity.

At the same time, the celebration of Durga Puja, the biggest festival of Bengalis, will be observed with devotion and authenticity. Daily rituals will be conducted with great attention to detail, and the community will gather for the traditional Bhog, sharing meals with family and friends. The rhythmic beats of the dhak will fill the air, bringing the true spirit of Durga Puja to Budapest.
The energy of Navratri, the beloved festival of northern and western India, will also resonate throughout the celebration. Dressed in colourful attire, participants will dance Garba and Dandiya Raas, adding joy and togetherness to the evenings.
The cultural program will be a major attraction, with over 50 performances planned to showcase India’s diversity.
