Is the Jewish community safe in Hungary? – the minister’s answer – UPDATED
The Jewish community is safe in Hungary, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook on Saturday. UPDATE: The foreign ministry has summoned Germany’s ambassador to Hungary over recent remarks by German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth.
Szijjarto reacted to comments by Germany’s Minister of State Michael Roth in which Szijjarto said the official had accused Hungary of anti-Semitism.
“Our Jewish compatriots have no reason to be afraid,”
Szijjarto said. “Their cultural festivals don’t require the presence of soldiers armed to the teeth, their synagogues and cemeteries were rebuilt with state funding and we were the proud hosts of the European Maccabi Games last year.”
The minister said he had “engaged in many fierce debates” with Roth between 2012 and 2014 when they were both foreign ministry state secretaries.
“Michael Roth took every opportunity he got to attack Hungary and Poland,” Szijjarto said. “And does so to this day.”
“So his attacks tend to go ignored these days,” he said, adding that Roth had now accused Hungary of something “that can’t go unanswered“.
Szijjarto called on Roth to “stop making demeaning attacks on Hungary” and recommended that the minister of state “take a look around his own backyard” the next time he addressed “such a serious issue“.

Obviously Mr. Szijjarto, perhaps too tired from all the fatigues onboard the 20 million euro yacht in the Mediterranean, which is perfectly understandable, all that sailing and swimming and sunbathing can easily cause exhaustion, overlooks one very well known fact: anti-semitic sentiments are well rooted in Hungarian society ( so are they in other countries of former “Eastern Bloc ” ). Denying this is denying evidence. ” it is the fault of the Jews ” is a very common expression here in the East.
On the other hand, we can also say that certainly Jews in Hungary are live much safer lives than the non-Jews ( especially Moslems ) in Palestine, subject to Netanhyahu’s oppressive and inhumane regime. That same Netanhyahu who happens to be one of Orban’s and Szijjarto’s best friends and closest partners.
Mario, as a leftist globalist anti christian and anti jew, your opinion leaves you in evidence. You, the leftists globalists degenerates always pointing the suffering of the poor Palestinian muslimes. Palestinians have a very good life in Israel, just they get repressed when they start terror attacks to express they territorial dominance.
I’d ask is Hungary safe with the Jewish Community?
