Israel, Jewish art in focus at Cafe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival
Israel and Jewish culture will be in focus at this year’s Cafe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival held between October 6 and 22, the chief organiser said.
Programmes featuring Israeli art will include acts by the Israel Ballet, the Avishai Cohen Trio and Avi Avital and Omer Avital, Csaba Kael told a press conference.
The annual Art Market Budapest contemporary art fair running on the festival’s sidelines will highlight Israeli fine arts and photography, he said.
Hungarian programme highlights include a new production by the Bozsik Yvette Company using compositions by Béla Bartók and György Ligeti and the premiere of Péter Eötvös’ new composition Multiverseum performed by the he Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Oscar-winning Chinese-American composer Tan Dun will also be Budapest’s guest, Kael said.
Other events during the festival include Budapest Ritmo World Music Festival, the Margo Literary Festival and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Europe, said Teodora Ban, a co-organiser.
