Huge traffic changes in Budapest due to national holiday

Due to events and gatherings marking the 23 October national holiday, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place in several districts of Budapest from 22 to 26 October, the Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) announced on Saturday via the police.hu website.

Significant changes in traffic in Budapest

On 22 October, from 10 AM to 8 PM, Műegyetem Quay in District XI will be closed between Bertalan Lajos Street and Szent Gellért Square. From 3 PM to 9 PM, Bem József Square in District II will also be closed to traffic.

Additionally, from 6 PM on 22 October until 2 AM on 24 October, one traffic lane in the direction of Oktogon on Andrássy Avenue in District VI will be closed between Dózsa György Road and Szív Street.

From 8 PM on 22 October until 2 AM on 24 October, both traffic lanes heading towards Oktogon on Andrássy Avenue (District VI) will be closed between Dózsa György Road and Szív Street.

The junctions of Andrássy Avenue with Rippl-Rónai Street and Munkácsy Mihály Street will also be affected, though traffic will be maintained on the service roads. The intersection with Bajza Street and the Kodály Körönd will also be closed, but service road access will remain open. In addition, the outer lanes of Andrássy Avenue between Vörösmarty Street and Csengery Street will be closed.
