VIDEO: Foreigners love the cheap drinks at Budapest’s Sziget Festival

Change language:
Hungarians find the prices at Budapest’s Sziget Festival astonishingly high. Meanwhile, paying 2.5 euros for a beer is cheap for most foreigners taking part in one of Central Europe’s biggest events. The festival was cancelled in the last two years because of the coronavirus. But now, it is back and ready to entertain each guest coming from any part of the world.
We reported HERE that the journalists of szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu found horror prices at this year’s Sziget festival. Of course, they compared prices to the Hungarian wages. However, for foreigners, Budapest’s Sziget on the Óbuda Island of the Danube is much cheaper than other similar Western European events.
Szmo.hu asked them why they like to come to one of Central Europe’s biggest events. They praised the atmosphere and the cheapness. The festival returned after a two-year-long hiatus. However, it seems nobody forgot it. It opened on the first day with 95 thousand guests, which meant a full-house.

“So lovely. And I really like the vibe of the festival already. Only ‘been here for one day”, a Dutch tourist told the Hungarian media outlet.
“We have been really looking forward to this. Because of the pandemic, we could not get together, could not go to festivals”, another guest said.

A beer at the home ground of the English football team West Ham is 7.30 GBP which is around 3, 360 forints. That is not unusual.
