Jobbik condemns Israel’s unlawful acts

Ever since its foundation, Jobbik Movement for a Better Hungary has always stood for a negotiated conflict settlement based on the restoration of trust, since it is the only way to guarantee a lasting peace. We are convinced that the two-state solution is the only way to settle the Middle East issue.

That is why we are concerned to hear that the Israeli parliament adopted a legislation to retroactively legalize settlements built in Palestinian territory, thus fundamentally undermining a peaceful resolution and carrying the risk of escalating the unstable situation. In our view, all of Israel’s practices and legislations that open the way for building illegal settlements fundamentally oppose the efforts for a resolution.

Jobbik condemns the retroactive law passed by Israel’s Parliament, the Knesset, and emphasises that not only is this legislation in contradiction with international law and opposes the UN Security Council’s recent, consensually passed resolution, it is even incompatible with Israel’s fundamental laws. We express the hope that if Tel-Aviv continues to defy the approved norms of international law, then the international community and the International Court of Justice in The Hague will take the necessary steps to bring Israel back to the path of law.
