La Liste 2019: 4 Hungarian among the 1,000 best restaurants in the world!

The most prestigious gastro list for 2019 is done: La Liste 2019 – the world’s best restaurant selection. Not only one, but four Hungarian restaurants made the list – three restaurants from Budapest and one from the countryside.

La Liste 2019
What is La Liste? It is the most prestigious gastronomical ranking in the world. The website says it all:
“Based on the compilation of hundreds of guidebooks and millions of online reviews, LA LISTE offers the best global restaurant selection handpicked by discerning food critics and expert guides.”
In order to create the 2019 list, with restaurants from 179 different countries in the world, 628 guides were used, and more than 40,000,000 reviews were scanned.
How does it work?
Restaurant reviews from guidebooks (recommended by famous chefs) and publications are put together in a giant database. Each review score is converted into a standard grade (ranging from 0 to 100) according to conversion tables specific to each guidebook. First, every guidebook that is used is given a “trustworthiness index” ranking from 0 (not to be trusted at all) to 10 (very trustworthy). For the restaurants themselves, the average of all standardised review scores is calculated and weighted by each source’s trustworthiness index. Moreover, online customer reviews are also integrated: these get 10% weighting in the final “La Liste score”.
