Legendary rockstars are coming to Budapest this year part II.
This year will be the year of rockstars in Budapest! Among others, Palaye Royale, The Damned, Roger Waters and Ozzy Osbourne are coming to perform in the Hungarian capital.
Palaye Royale and Yonaka
The Canadian-American Palaye Royale went from being almost completely unknown to one of the most promising international bands in both North America and Europe. The band defines itself as a fashion-art rock band, but in terms of genre, the emo-punk from the 2000s and classic rock ‘n’ roll characterises them. This will not be their first time in Budapest; last year, they performed at Sziget Festival. This year, they are returning to Budapest, accompanied by the English power pop band Yonaka.
Place and date: Barba Negra Red Stage, 24 February
The Damned for the first time in Budapest
This band’s style has taken countless directions since its formation. For example, they have tried out gothic rock, post-punk, psychedelic rock, new wave and alternative rock. In fact, they had a significant impact on the goth subculture. During their career of nearly 50 years, they have not yet performed in Hungary. However, in 2023, they will come to Budapest and give an unforgattable concert.
Place and date: A38, 18 March
Electric Callboy
The German Electric Callboy reminds us of the tunes of Scooter or other electronic music artists of the nineties, turbocharged with heavy guitar sounds and death metal growls. If you are looking for a fun concert, this might be the one for you! Their absurd music genre is both shocking and fun at the same time. The band’s popularity is also on the rise in Hungary, last year they had a full house gig in Barba Negra.
Place and date: Barba Negra Red Stage, 15 April
Roger Waters
The 79-year-old star is undeniably one of the most influential figures in the rock scene in general, as well as in the entire pop culture. “This Is Not A Drill is a revolutionary, extravagant rock and roll and cinematic experience performed on a center stage, and a stunning indictment of the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive. It is a call to action to love, protect and share our precious and unbalanced home on this planet. The show features dozens of songs from Pink Floyd’s golden era, along with many more recent songs that have the same lyricist and composer, the same heart, the same soul, the same person. This could be the last hurray. Wow! My first farewell tour! Do not miss it!” – Roger Water said about the upcoming concert.
Place and date: MVM Dome, 23 April
Ozzy Osbourne is coming to Budapest
In the case of 74-year-old Ozzy Osbourne, it is no exaggeration to say: it is a miracle that he is still alive considering his wild antics, writes origo.hu. He is one of the key figures in the creation of heavy metal. Unfortunately, the singer suffers from Parkinson’s disease and depression, recently had neck surgery due to a previous accident and has to live with constant crippling pain. Therefore, this will be his last tour. You should not miss it!
Place and date: László Papp Budapest Sports Arena, 17 May
Rammstein
One of the world’s most famous hard rock bands, Rammstein, is visiting Hungary after 10 years. Its popularity is well demonstrated by the fact that the interest was so great that the German band had to rent out the 70,000-seat Puskás Arena in Budapest for two consecutive nights, and they will still be guaranteed two full houses.
Place and date: Puskás Arena, 11-12 July
Billie Eilish
The Oscar, seven-time Grammy and Golden Globe-winning American singer and songwriter will come to this year’s Sziget festival. There will probably be a full house on 15 August on Hajógyári Island. It is well worth checking out the list of attendees because one of Europe’s largest light music festivals invites many interesting and well-known performers to the Island.
Place and date: Sziget festival, 15 August
